We advise business leaders, governments, non-profits and private individuals on building, enhancing and protecting their reputations in the political sphere.
Though we have deep political expertise we are generalists, working across every area of corporate communications and reputation management to build a business based on long-standing client relationships, straight-talking counsel and disciplined, hands-on delivery.
Core Responsibilities
Leads on the operational running of client teams, acting as a senior delivery and leadership link with the Directors and Partners that ensures seamless coordination and execution.
Develops strong relationships with clients, trusted to give sound advice on political, regulatory, and reputational issues.
Builds strong relationships with a wide range of external stakeholders which can be utilised to the benefit of clients and Sanctuary as a business.
Maintains a strong awareness of current affairs and the broader political and business landscape, demonstrating the ability to anticipate potential risks, identify emerging opportunities, and implement proactive plans to prepare and position teams for success.
Line management responsibilities, investing in the growth and development of both their direct reports and colleagues across key client accounts. Demonstrates strong coaching skills in guiding teams on effective execution/delivery and senior client or stakeholder management.
Leads initiatives that support the growth of the business, contributing to its new business strategy, marketing activities. Confident taking a leading role on the preparation of new business proposals, and actively network to introduce potential new client leads or other useful contacts to the business.
Able to deputise for Partners and Directors as and when appropriate.
Key Skills & Experience
Proven experience in public affairs or policy gained through roles in agencies, corporates, trade associations, government, political parties or a related environment.
Strong knowledge of the political landscape and policy process and able to utilise their experience to responding reactively to external events whilst proactively identifying opportunities to help clients achieve their aims.
Ability to confidently juggle multiple clients and workstreams (often with competing deadlines) and to delegate and prioritise workload as necessary to meet deadlines.
Ability to understand and interrogate a brief, think strategically and analytically for clients, solve problems, and deliver succinct advice, including senior counsel.
Ability to structure teams, timelines and team workstreams to deliver on a brief / new business mandate.
A clear and confident communicator, both verbally and in writing, with experience of drafting content for a variety of uses, delivering multistakeholder activities, and creating and executing a wide range of communications strategies.
Ability to proactively identify client risks, operate in high stakes situations and handle issues.
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, able to work both independently and within a team, adopting a high level of responsibility.
Excellent people management skills and experience guiding junior colleagues in the delivery of high-quality work; being supportive and eager to help others learn.
Consistently well informed on political, current affairs, business news and social trends.

Efficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Google Drive, together with a solid understanding of the key social, media and research platforms.
